$\displaystyle \forall \epsilon >0\, \, \exists\, I_{(x_{0},y_{0})}\, \, tale\, \, che\, \, \forall x\in (I-\left \{ (x_{0},y_{0}) \right \})\cap D\, \, \, \, \, \, \left | f(x,y)-L \right |<\epsilon$
e scrive $\displaystyle \lim_{\begin{matrix} x\rightarrow x_{0} & \\ y\rightarrow y_{0} & \end{matrix}}f(x,y)=L$.
$\displaystyle \forall \epsilon >0\, \, \exists \, I \, di\, \, P_{0}\,\, tale \, \, che\, \, \forall x\in \left ( I-\left \{ P_{0} \right \} \right )\cap D \, \, \, \, \, \left | f(P)-L) \right |<\epsilon$
e si scrive $\displaystyle \lim_{P\rightarrow P_{0}}f(P)=L$
